  ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING: MENTORS
The Our One-to-One Mentoring Program is an important and valued part of the services we offer. A One-to-One Mentor is encouraged to spend two to four hours per week with a child on a regular basis. She must be 18 years of age or more, and have a genuine interest in spending positive and beneficial time with a girl. Volunteers are needed.

One to One Mentors are women from all walks of life. Each Mentor has a great deal to offer a young girl, whether it be sharing a favourite hobby, providing opportunities to try new things or learn new skills, or simply spending quality time with a child by demonstrating caring and interest. A Mentor is someone who has a stable lifestyle, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to understand the needs of girls and is genuinely interested in children. The most valuable gift a Mentor can offer is her time and friendship. Our Caseworker guides all Mentors through the orientation and training they need to develop healthy and positive relationships with their match. Training workshops help Mentors deal with issues like child abuse, anger management, and eating disorders. There are additional training opportunities including workshops, informal get-togethers and special events. These provide the opportunity for a girl and her Mentor to meet each other, have some fun, and learn a new skill.

Becoming a Mentor is a simple, straightforward process. Please contact our office at (613) 345-3295 to request an application package. Alternatively you can contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator for more information. She will be in touch with you shortly thereafter. After this process above is completed, an interview will be scheduled to review your personal history, lifestyle, and match expectations. Following the completion of the interview, your application will be reviewed to consider the potential to match you with a child on the waiting list.

ONE-TO-ONE MENTORING: MENTORED
The Mentored is a young girl between the ages of 6-18 years, who could benefit from a dependable friendship with a mature woman who can take the time to offer her new opportunities and support. Our vision is to ensure a Mentor for every girl who needs one.

To become a Mentored girl is a simple, straightforward process. To express your interest, please contact the Volunteer Co-ordinator for more information. She will be in touch with you shortly thereafter.
