Make a Difference, Make a Commitment
At Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada, volunteers are an integral part of our agency. Volunteers have the power to have a tremendous impact on the girls in our community and within our programs. We know that volunteers make a difference in the community and in ‘getting involved’, volunteers make a commitment to themselves and to their community. Together we will work towards a community where girls can grow to be strong, smart and bold – the leaders of the next generation.
Opportunities
There are various ways to get involved with Girls Inc. – with programs, but also with utilising other talents/skills. All volunteers are provided with training in their area of interest.
Programming: You may wish to get involved by helping to prepare program materials; participating as a co-facilitator; or attending as a guest speaker. Opportunities vary from one time guest speakers to weekly co-facilitators, and everything in between. Program volunteers will always work directly with a Girls Inc. staff person and use their own skills to enhance girls’ learning. Programs are offered in-school during regular school hours, evenings, weekends and on school holidays.
Promotion: Do you enjoy being involved in the community… and have a few hours to spare at key Girls Inc. events? Perhaps you would like to get involved in the planning or day of operation of one of our annual special events.
Administration: Do you enjoy some office duties or would you be interested in helping with the newsletter? Additional hands and skills are always welcome to assist with mailings, the development and distribution of our quarterly newsletter, answering the telephones, and preparing materials for use in programs.
Board of Directors: Perhaps you are interested in becoming involved in the overall management of the organization. We are looking for committed men and women with expertise in the financial or social services sector.
