OPPORTUNITIES
For those who do not wish or are otherwise unable to work directly within our "One-to-One Mentoring" or our other programs, there are many other unique opportunities to volunteer within Girls Incorporated of Upper Canada. The list below is a general listing and is by no means intended to be exhausitve.
Get involved with a committee like recreation, special events or publicity, like our Dream Auction
Donate a special talent
Join the Board or a special committee
We require a minimum two year commitment to the Board. We are looking for people who are interested in fostering the healthy development of children, and who can make a commitment to our future growth in the communities of Leeds and Grenville. The Board meets once a month, every second Wednesday evening, with the exception of July and August. There are also a number of committees who would welcome volunteer membership, related to special focus areas.
Provide technical support, computer knowledge
Provide office or administrative support
Assist in fundraising activities
There is a big need here to help the agency raise funds. This kind of opportunity has a great many variables. One could volunteer to help out at a Bingo or two, be available to help during the build up to a special event, or take a leadership role in on of the many special events we host. Training and staff and board support are always provided.
Become a driver, assist with driving girls to our various programs
Volunteer drivers are needed to drive 2 or 3 children in the Brockville area to our Girls Night and Skills Night programs once a week during certain times of the year. This is an important role as many of the children who benefit from this program have no other way of getting here. Girls Incorporated can pay mileage costs.
Professional screening and ongoing support of matches ensures the well being and healthy development of all girls enrolled in our programs. Educational and recreational activities build confidence and self esteem in hundreds of girls each year.
